The Pacific Meridian International Film Festival announced the dates for the new upcoming 16th Festival in 2018. The main cinema event in the Far East of Russia will take place in September 21st till 27th, 2018.
The Festival distinct feature which causes the audience's and professionals' interest that it is set to screen specifically the Asian-Pacific region films in competition and several other sections.
Each year over 1000 films arrive to the Festival program department, around 150 of them get to be screened within the Festival program. Beside the main competition section, there are several film sections representing cinema from Russia, Europe and Asian countries: the best new cinema trends or retrospective screenings from the world known cinematographers. Throughout Russia it is the only place where the audience and film professionals can view a distinct amount of asia-pacific films, sometimes unique and rarely accessible for the European part of the country.
The Festival is truly a place where Europe can meet Asia and vice verse, and have ideas and projects to share and communicate.
Other events also take place each year for the guests of the Festival. Special film discussions, workshops, exhibitions, art evenings where audience meets film directors, actors and other filmmakers who bring their films to Vladivostok.
Last year in 2017 it was the 15 year anniversary for the Festival, which hosted over 50,000 people who watched the screenings. The Festival hosted film celebrities – Fanny Ardant, Nastassja Kinski, Lia Akhedzhakova, Alla Surikova, Alexey Uchitel and others.
