Mitsuhiko Asami (Mokomichi Hayami) is a freelance writer. For a job, he travels to Yoshino, Nara Prefecture. There, he meets elementary school teacher Toshiko Nagahara (Misako Tanaka). Mitsuhiko takes his mother Yukie (Yoshiko Sakuma) to watch a Dōjōji in Kyoto. During the Dōjōji performance, performer Nougakushi (Shunsuke Kubozuka) dies suddenly on the stage.
